Broward County Classroom Reduction Project
We are very proud and excited to be apart of this project. It will consist of additions on five different campuses; Miramar Elementary, Sea Castle Elementary, Palmview Elementary, Fairway Elementary and Country Isles Elementary. The focus of this job is to meet the requirements of reducing classroom sizes of student/teacher ratios. It will be spread over several years and encompass many schools across the entire county. The general contractor and acting project manager for Broward County Schools is Pirtle Construction. They are well known in the south and have a reputation for very aggressive build requirements. It is not uncommon for them to finish way ahead of the projected finish date. The mechanical contractor on this project is Jorda Mechanical. Also a well know south Florida contractor, we are more that pleased to be working with this fine family owned operation.
This project broke ground in early May and in the words of Mr. Jim Pirtle; 'We want to be done no later than July'. That is an awesome statement and we are looking forward to being a part of it!
We will add more photos from other schools as the jobs come up!
Miramar Elementary
One of the most awesome things about the buildings Pirtle erects is that they are all the walls are framed and concrete is poured on site. Once cured, they are up righted and erected like a puzzle. The holes for wall sleeves are framed out on this job, but in the future, we are going to get the wall sleeves in earlier so they can pour the concrete around it while in place.
This job also included special hurricane rated louver grilles. Jorda Mechanical is converting these sleeves to fit the 4 1/2 inch thick grille, but on the future projects we already have a sleeve made up to fit this massive grille. We wish we had it for this job, but it will be smooth sailing from now on.
Here are some great shots of the walls framed out with the sleeve openings.
Wall sleeves installed.
Special hurricane lovers are installed.
The units arrive and the first one is set into place. Jorda Mechanical will now complete the installation by hooking up the condensate drain kit, wire the electrical portion and mount and wire all low voltage controllers.
Mr. Jim Pirtle has this all under control!
Final walk through with all the grass in place leaves a very nice building!
The inside completed!

This campus has mirror buildings.
What a difference from the photos above!

This is a building constructed by a company called Padulla & Wadsworth. They build a fantastic building and have a great set of subs working for them. These are some pictures of five schools they are constructing in the Broward County area. One thing you notice right away, is all five of these buildings are two stories tall.
Coral Springs Middle
Tamarac Elementary
Forrest Glen Middle
Tedder Elementary
This is another large building built by Padula Wadsworth. The mechanical on the job is Coltech out of Miami. It measures about 300 feet long and is two stories tall. Designed by Saltz Michelson, the exterior and interior are very colorful and full of nice design features. They used closets to hide the mechanical equipment.
